SAU #16 Relocation – Exeter NH

Project Scope: SAU 16 contracted with Turnstone Corporation to complete an interior renovation of existing classroom space that would be used as the SAU’s new office. The entire project was completed while students were present in another section of the building. It was essential for the project to be completed with enough time left for the SAU to relocate to the new office space before the beginning of the next school year. Turnstone was able to turn the new space over two month ahead of schedule.
There was a substantial amount of selective demolition involved in this renovation. Every classroom had to be demoed to accommodate new work, there was under slab plumbing that had to be relocated for a new bathroom; four large sections of window walls had to be removed. Turnstone removed the entire window wall and reframed the opening to except new vinyl insulated windows.

All of the existing doors and hardware were replaced. The hallway walls were lined with lockers that were to be abandoned in place. A steel stud wall was constructed along both sides of the entire corridor. New electrical outlets were installed and drywall was put up to conceal the lockers. New offices were constructed inside the existing classroom to give SAU personnel separate office space. New carpet was installed in all of the office areas and new vinyl tiles were installed in the high traffic areas. All of the mechanical and electrical systems were design build. The mechanical upgrades included replacing the old hot water baseboard heaters with new, more efficient baseboard. A new air handling unit was installed above the new suspended ceiling system, along with all associated duct work. Electrical upgrades included a new addressable fire alarm panel and all new electrical power outlets and data cabling.
